PEARL EARRING
Inspired by Johannes Vermeer's painting, "Girl with a Pearl Earring" The painting provides a rich sample of Vermeer’s virtuoso painting technique. The face is modeled very softly, not in obvious detail but with gradual transitions and invisible brushstrokes. The pearl earring is simple and yet striking. Too large to be real, it would have been an imitation made of glass. Girl with a Pearl Earring was painted in 1665, a time when pearls were fashionable and common.
